"I love my drumming at MM Drum School, it's so FUN and I love it"
Drum Therapy is a method of creating rhythm and sound and applying it to an individual for the purpose of healing. A truly holistic healing approach, drumming breaks down social barriers, promotes freedom of expression, non-verbal communication.
It can elevate the mood, decrease anxiety, and stress, and it boosts immune system functioning and benefits physical health.
Drum Therapy Sessions help with depression and low mood. Also, Drumming helps children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, Special Education Needs and Various health conditions.
How long are the sessions?
We usually start new clients with 30 min sessions although some choose to extend the time. We are flexible and will work with you to find the most apporopriate session times.
Can my key worker/Support Worker come into the sessions?
Yes, we understand that for some clients a support worker would be appropriate.
Are the sessions Group or Individual?
Our sessions work on a individual basis although, some organisations and schools can have group sessions for no more than 4 clients in a session.
"I am a parent of an autistic child who struggles with his anger and home life can be very hard. I have been looking for services in the area who support autistic children to regulate their anger. For a while I was starting to loose hope and became depressed.
I read an article from Derby Telegraph about a young man in the name of Michael Moore. The article was about Michael's business MM Drum School which, runs a unique drum therapy service. I have since, booked my son for weekly one to one drumming therapy sessions. We have luckily gained some funding for him to increased the number of hours he does at MM Drum School. Michael's services have been a massive help and my son has been more calm ever since. Home life has been much more pleasant and I can't thank Michael enough for his support to my son. Michael is a truly inspirational person who puts his customers first"
